A professor at Queen’s University Belfast, Chris is a highly respected scientist. Having published more than 300 papers in the field of detection and control of chemical contaminants in agri-food commodities, he led the UK government’s independent review of food systems following the 2013 horsemeat scandal.

He is the Director of the ASSET Technology Centre, which collaborates with agri-food companies and provides early detection of contaminations across the entire food chain, as well as looking into the ability to detect food fraud using emerging technologies.
